Police have launched an investigation after a Snapchat video appears to show a father trying to potty train his child — by pouring hot sauce down his pants.
Shana Honeycutt, of Edmond, Oklahoma, said she was rattled by the video after she first saw it posted in a private Facebook group.
Honeycutt publicized a sped-up version of the Snapchat video, which includes the caption, “potty training 101.”
The clip shows a man lifting a child over his shoulder with an open bottle of what appears to be hot sauce in one hand.
The man appears to tip the bottle into the waistband of the kid’s pants before going through the motions of smearing a handful of sauce in the child’s face.
While the kid appears distraught, his mother, who wished to remain anonymous, told News9 a slower version of the video shows none of the sauce came in contact with her son.
“You can see that nothing went down his pants, and nothing was in his mouth,” she said.
While the boy’s mother has already received death threats over the video, she said she would never put her child in danger.
Choctaw police, along with members of the Department of Human Services visited the home on Wednesday night. An investigation is ongoing, although police say the child appears to be in a safe home.
